I’m going to tell you a somewhat silly story, but in it, there is an important lesson I think you can get out of it.
A few years ago I was hanging out with a friend of mine, and it was around the time the Coca Cola Company re-released the drink “SURGE.”
When we were younger he loved those things and man was he excited to take a sweet sip of that sugar drink.
He told me “… I came home yesterday and look at what my wife found.”
There it was in all its splendor. They were kind of hard to find; unless you ordered them online under certain stipulations.
He wanted more, but his wife could not remember where she got it from!
He was going from store to store spending hours just trying the find the stinkin’ drink.
(I think he has a problem.)
Anyway…
The thing is, many of us do this in our marketing campaigns. We don’t know EXACTLY where our sales are coming from.
- Which ads
- Audiences
- Sources (Facebook, YouTube, Google, Twitter, etc)
- Top demographics
Just to name a few.
